Welcome to our Online Children’s Art Gallery!!!

This website was created to allow children in both Sierra Leone and in Canada to share their vision of what a peaceful world looks like. Concentrating on peace education is important. Increased focus on friendships, the peaceful resolution of conflict and the acceptance of differences are crucial in creating a safe, happy and successful learning environment. When these attitudes and beliefs are practiced within schools, they also extend out into the society.

A little brief bio...

My name is Jeanette Kim and I live in Ontario Canada, where I am a teacher candidate at Queen’s University. I will be graduating in April 2009, where I will obtain my teaching degree in the Primary and Junior levels. This project was created for my alternative teaching block and was based on my Global Education course. As an educator, it is my passion to work with youth, teaching them about friendships, differences and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. I am so happy with the beautiful images created by the students in Canada and in Sierra Leone. One day soon, I hope to travel to Sierra Leone and meet the children who have provided their artwork to this gallery!
